Training Safety Specialist

 

 WHO COULD BE THE TRAINING SAFETY SPECIALIST?

People who graduated at the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Science Literacy (the Department of Physic, Chemistry and Biology), who works as a technical teacher, who graduated at the occupational health safety program, after attending to an occupational safety specialist course, who must be successful in the C-class occupational safety specialist examination made by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security. The one who is referred to Class C occupational safety specialist is entitled to take the examination of B class specialization after 4 years of work as a specialist. After being successful in this examination and specializing in 3 years of high-risk work, Class B specialist is entitled to take the examination as A-class occupational safety specialist.

WHAT ARE THE DUTIES OF TRAINING SAFETY SPECIALIST?

a) Guidance;

1. Making recommendations to the employer to ensure that any issue is handled in accordance with the legislation on occupational health and safety and general occupational safety rules. Also issues related to design, machine and other equipment status, maintenance, selection and materials used according to the work done in the workplace and changes to be made, the planning, organization and implementation of the work, the selection, construction, use, maintenance and testing of personal protective equipment.

2. Informing the employer via a written form of the measures that need to be taken regarding occupational health and safety.

3. Submitting a proposal to the employer studying the causes of the occupational accidents and occupational diseases in the workplace and the measures to be taken in order not to repeat them.

4. Informing the employer about the investigation of the causes of any problems in the workplace such as events not causing death or injury, but potentially damaging the worker, equipment or workplace (near miss).

b) Risk assessment;

1. Ensuring the participation in the implementation of the risk assessment regarding occupational health and safety, submitting proposals to the employer about health and safety measures to be taken as a consequence of the risk assessment, following up on these measures.

c) Supervising the work ambience;

1. Planning and conducting periodic maintenance, control and measurements that must be done according to the work health and safety legislation in the workplace.

2. Participating in workshops for the prevention of accidents, fires or explosions in the workplace, proposing to the employer new practices and following up on their implementation; participating in training of contingency plans for natural disasters, accidents, fires or explosions, monitoring and controlling the periodic trainings and exercises in accordance with the contingency plan.

d) Education, information and registration;

1. Working and controlling the training of employees on occupational health and safety according to the relevant legislation and submitting them to the employer for approval.

2. Preparing the annual evaluation report on occupational health and safety studies together with the results of supervision of working ambience in collaboration with the occupational physician according to the example in Annex 2

3. Arranging the training for employees and presenting to the employer for approval and controlling the implementation.

4. Preparing work permissions and procedures according to the instruction of occupational health and safety in order to use them in case they are needed and presenting to the employer for approval of employer and controlling their implementation.

e) Collaboration with the relevant units;

1. Making an evaluation about occupational accidents and occupational diseases in collaboration with the occupational physician, preparing plans of the required preventive examination carried out to prevent dangerous events.

2. Preparing the annual work plan for occupational health and safety activities to be carried out in the following year in collaboration with the occupational physician.

3. Collaborating with members of committee on occupational health and safety;

4. Providing support to the employees’ representatives and support member and collaborate with them.
